Edith J. Maynard, 82
Edith J. Maynard (O’Brien), of Naples, Maine, passed away suddenly at Bridgton Hospital from failing health on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021. She entered her next chapter of life in the comfort of her granddaughter’s arms.
She was born March 24, 1939, and raised in Franklin, N.H., by her widowed mother, Tilly, who worked as a
nurse to support a family of six. She married the love of her life, Richard F. Maynard of Reading, Mass., when she was 18 years old. They were married for over 50 years before his passing and raised six children together.
Edith is survived by her children and their families: sons Richard Maynard and wife Anna of Manchester, N.H., Dave Maynard and wife Tanya of Reading, Mass., Todd Maynard of Denmark, Maine, daughter, Jean Coigley and husband John of Alton, N.H., son, Brian Maynard of Denmark, daughter, Pamela Cacavas and husband Aaron of Naples, and eight grandchildren and over a dozen great-grandchildren.
Edie was kind, caring and full of love. She enjoyed cooking, baking, feeding family and strangers alike, crocheting, and winning at cribbage and bingo. She also enjoyed camping throughout her life, mostly on Ossipee Lake in N.H. She is greatly missed.
In honor of Edie’s wishes, she will be cremated, and no public service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
