Doris Chapman

Doris Chapman

SWEDEN — Doris Chapman of Sweden passed away just short of her 92nd birthday. She was at home, with her son, daughter and granddaughter, when she fell asleep in death, early Monday morning, March 30, 2022.

A warm, generous and loving woman, her vivacious personality attracted all who knew her.

Her husband, Gerald (“Jerry”) Chapman, passed away in 2010. He loved her dearly and enjoyed their 62 years together.

She was also predeceased by her beloved parents, Lena Byram and Leonard Tilley Byram, of Caribou. They were known to all as Grammy and Grampy, whether related or not.

She came from a close-knit, hard-working, fun-loving family. She was sad to lose older brothers Norman, Clarence, Arthur and younger brother, Ron, in recent years.

She is survived by daughter, Brenda Lozoway of Casco; son, Gaylen Chapman of Sweden; and her five grandchildren, who were very close to their Nana. She loved all her children, grandchildren, her many nieces, nephews, great-granddaughter and all her many great nieces and nephews, cousins and all her “in-laws.” (It would be easier to list those she didn’t love: the number would be zero.)

Doris was creative, curious and a woman of faith. She loved learning and studying the Bible, spending her life teaching others how to live a satisfying life. She was a talented hairdresser, running her own salon for many years.

Her friends in the Norway Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses miss her warm, friendly smile and ways. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1956.

You are missed already, Mum.
