Dennis L. Moynihan
December 19, 1952 - January 7, 2025
Dennis L. Moynihan, 72, of Bridgton passed away peacefully at his home in Bridgton on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025.
Dennis was born in Bridgton on Dec. 19, 1952, to parents Lee and Fay (Kilborn) Moynihan.
Dennis attended and graduated from Lake Region High School before going on to study drafting and design at Central Maine Community College. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy
studying Nuclear Academics before deployment on the U.S.S.
William H. Standley, where he received a Commander’s Letter of Commendation. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1975, Dennis was a dedicated advocate for local veterans, serving as the American Legion Lopeman-Potts Commander in Bridgton for over 25 years.
After leaving the Navy, he went on to work for Bath Iron Works, and drove delivery trucks for Locust Farm Dairy and Hood Dairy before going on to run his own landscaping business for many years.
Known to many as “Denny,” he was good natured and quick with a joke, a lover of animals, and his beloved New England sports teams. He was loved by his family and many friends and will be remembered as a friendly spirit with a soft heart.
He is survived by his daughter, Shannon McConkey and husband Cliff of Norway; son, Chris Moynihan and wife Casey of Nolensville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Austin, Emma, Jones, Sunny and Finn; brother, Pat Moynihan and wife Charlene of South Portland; brother David Moynihan of Bridgton; and sister, Doreen Meade and husband Brian of Bridgton.
He is predeceased by his parents, Lee and Fay Moynihan.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, local veterans organizations or area animal shelters.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Forest Hills Annex Cemetery, Kansas Road, in Bridgton.
