David R. Crooker, 74
David R. Crooker, 74, of Bridgton, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015.
He was born on Aug. 17, 1940, in Woolwich, the son of Elmer and Margaret (Bryant) Crooker. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1960. He promptly enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at Pease AFB in New Hampshire. He served with the 509th Armament and Electronics Maintenance Squadron, and was promoted to Airman Second Class. He was honorably discharged after serving four years.
He joined the Auburn Police Department as a patrolman, and later retired from Central Maine Power Co. in 2003.
He met his second wife, Joanna Rollins, at a senior dance. They were married Dec. 1, 2001, at the First Congregational Church of Bridgton, where they both were members.
He had many hobbies and would lighten up the room with his witty jokes. But, his family was most important.
He is survived by his wife, Joanna Crooker of Bridgton; his first wife, Judith Crooker of Cumberland; his daughter, Julie Turner of Mechanic Falls; his son, Morgan Crooker of Crosby, Tenn.; his granddaughter; his sister Judith Betsworth of Naples, Fla.; his sister, Susan Black, also of Florida; his brother, Herbert Black III of Northport; and a large extended family, all of whom he cherished.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 13, at 2 p.m., at the First Congregational Church of Bridgton, at 33 South High Street.
