David Gray, 88
David Gray, 88, of Lambertville, Mich., entered heaven on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, three days before his birthday, caused by infection of the Covid-19 virus.
Born and raised in Bridgton and Harrison, he graduated from Bridgton High School, married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Proctor, and served for four years in the Air Force during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, he returned to Maine with his growing family to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine. Moving his family to Connecticut, he was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for seven years as a material engineer in the aircraft jet engine industry, where he was instrumental in the development of a state-of-the-art jet engine turbine blade of composite materials. In 1972, he joined Consolidated Aviation Engineers, of Toledo, Ohio, also a jet engine manufacturer, where he worked until he retired in 1993.
He and his family, resided in Lambertville, Mich., a suburb of Toledo, for almost 50 years.
Surviving David are four sons, Mark Gray of Augusta, Michael Gray of Huntingtown, Md., Scott Gray of Nashville, Tenn. and Patrick Gray of Lambertville, Mich.; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his mother, Beatrice; his father, Lawrence; his wife, Dorothy; his brother, Donald; and his sisters, Mary Lyons and Florence Cooper.
