Daniel J. Leary, 85
HARRISON — Daniel J. Leary of Harrison, 86, died on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021 after a long illness. He was home surrounded by his loving wife, Joanne F. (Lukow) Leary and his children when he peacefully passed.
Dan and Joanne were married for 62 years. Many of these years were spent working and raising their family in Walpole, Mass. In 2000, they retired to Harrison, where he spent the remainder of his life.
Dan was a quiet, hard-working father who gave great hugs. He was known to be able to fix anything and still wielded a chainsaw into his 80s. He was always working outdoors. With his police scanner close by, Dan loved to play solitaire on his computer and watch the comings and goings of the Harrison Fire Department from his window.
One of his greatest pleasures was attending “Leary Camp,” where his children, grandchildren and friends camped on his property and celebrated family and nature. He has kept the family tradition going for 25-plus years and will continue on in his memory.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne F. (Lukow) Leary; son, John Leary of Mansfield, Mass.; daughter, Dianne Campos of Burlington, Mass.; son, David Leary of Walpole, Mass.; daughter, Ann Marie Ford of Barrington, N.H.; eight grandchildren and a great-grandson. All who loved and cherished him deeply.
A celebration of his life will be held later this year.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to: Beacon Hospice, 245 Center Street, Suite 10A, Auburn, ME 04210.
