Cynthia Orr

LEWISTON — Cyndi passed away on October 27, 2023 after several years of declining health.

Cyndi was born on July 11, 1963, in Milford, Conn., to Ward and Anita Kuehn. She attended schools in Cheshire, Conn. and graduated from Ithica College.

After graduation, Cyndi began a career in corporate communications in Boston and Wallingford, Conn. In late 1999, Cyndi’s soon- to-be husband, John Orr, started a business in his native Maine.
In the spring of 2000, Cyndi and her then seven-year-old daughter Hailey joined him in their home
in Old Orchard Beach. It was while living there she began the final, and most rewarding chapter
of her working career as an Ed.Tech.

In 2001, Cyndi and John purchased a second home on Moose Pond in the shadows of Pleasant Mountain. In 2003, Cyndi, Hailey and John all agreed that they would live full time in Bridgton. Cyndi continued her career as an Ed Tech in S.A.D. 72. Over the next 15 years, she worked at every one of the district’s elementary and middle schools. She absolutely loved her students (she was especially proud of Bethanny) and was heartbroken when her health no longer allowed her to work in 2020.

Hailey was always the center of Cyndi’s universe. She was proud of Hailey’s academic achievements and enjoyed watching Hailey play field hockey, basketball, and softball at Lake Region High School and lacrosse at Husson University. When Hailey became a nurse practitioner, Cyndi could not have been prouder.

While Cyndi enjoyed the lakes and mountains of Western Maine, she missed the ocean desperately. To scratch that itch Cyndi and John began renting an oceanfront home for the month of July every year.

Even as her health made walking the beach difficult, Pine Point was truly Cyndi’s “Happy Place”. Cyndi will be missed by John, Hailey, and Hailey’s partner Royce. She will also be missed by best buddies, Mary Kearns and Sandra LaPage.

Cyndi’s life will be celebrated in a family gathering in Connecticut in November that will include her parents, brother, cousins, aunts, and uncles. As were Cyndi’s wishes, Hailey, John, and close friends will release her ashes into the surf at her beloved Pine Point on her birthday in July.

John, Hailey, and Royce wish to thank the medical professionals at Bridgton Hospital, Life Flight of Maine, and Central Maine Medical Center for their professionalism and compassion during our very difficult period. If you want to honor Cyndi. just do something nice for a kid!
