FRYEBURG — Clarence “Sonny” H. Rogers Jr., 79, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, at home, with his loving family by his side.

He was born January 31, 1945, in Bridgton, a son of Clarence and Sylvia (Rogers) Rogers. After graduating from Nathan Hale-Ray High School, he joined the United States Navy proudly serving the country during the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Point Defiance (LSD 31).

He married Sharon Zanelli on May 10, 1969. They resided in Hadlyme, Conn., until they decided to move their family to Fryeburg, where Clarence worked as a butcher for many local grocery stores.

He liked to hunt and fish, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family and friends. Clarence loved helping everyone in any way he was able, and always did so with a smile on his face.

He was predeceased by his loving parents Clarence and Sylvia Rogers and his sister Robin Garafalo.

He leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his loving wife Sharon Rogers, his children Wendy Mutrie and her husband Andrew, Amy Rogers, Gary Martin, Dawn Snow, and Cherie Martin. Also his 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and another one expected in December. He also leaves his siblings Doris Berner, Robert Rogers and Brenda Ryder and her husband Michael, as well as nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Clarence’s wishes, a graveside service will take place on October 19, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Brownfield, with a small luncheon after at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Fryeburg.
