Christopher E. Lothrop, 75
SANTA ROSA, CALIF. — Christopher Emory Lothrop, 75, of Santa Rosa, Calif., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018.
Chris was born on May 18, 1942 in Portland to Arthur and Amy Lothrop. Following graduation from the Bridgton High School, Chris joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving honorably for seven years including two tours in Vietnam. After being discharged from the Marines on the West Coast, he returned to New England before moving to Colorado in 1975. In the late 1980s, he and Gillian moved to Sonoma County, Calif. and then settled for over a decade in Anchor Bay, Calif. until 2013 when they moved to Santa Rosa.
Chris passed away after a short battle with cancer. He will be remembered as succinct in speech, big in heart, a lover of abalone hunting, and proud owner of beautiful collies. He was devoted to his late wife, Gillian, whose passing in May left a huge hole in Chris’ life.
Chris is survived by his three children, Lauri Ann Genesio of Santa Fe, N.M., Mark Russell Genesio of South Portland and Kristen Erica Dixit of Youngville, La. He also leaves behind his brother, Tom Lothrop of Beechgrove, Ind.; six grandchildren, one great grandchild, 11 step-grandchildren, 13 step-great-grandchildren, and 11 nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Gillian Lothrop; his sister, Christina Buretta; his brother, Arthur Lothrop; three stepsons and a step-grandchild.
Chris’ and Jill’s ashes will be interred in the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oreg.
