Carole Millett

WATERFORD — Carole Jean Millett, 77, of Waterford, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 28, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 29, 1947 in Portland, the daughter of Lewis C. and Eunice T. (Winslow) Stone. She attended local schools in Gray, graduating from New Gloucester High School in 1965. Always striving to increase her education, she took several varying courses over the years, which included obtaining her real estate license.

Carole worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance in Lewiston for 19 years, Ripley & Fletcher in South Paris, Truman Realty in Waterford, and Toole Realty in Windham.  She also worked part-time at Chase’s Variety and Buddy’s Store.

On June 1, 1996, she married Miles L. Millett.  Together, they enjoyed countless adventures as she was always up to go along for the ride.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, going on adventures with her best friend/mother-in-law, Persis, going to camp and riding the back roads bird hunting. She loved her music and dancing, her flower garden, quilting and knitting.

Carole is loved by her daughter, Lee Merrill of Etna; step-children, Chad Millett of Waterford and Buffy Millett of Waterford; mother-in-law, Persis Millett of Waterford; sister, Glady Glasier of Durham; brother, Fred Stone of Auburn; eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Miles on Jan. 10, 2024; brothers, William Stone and Perry Stone; and a step-son, Jason Millett.

A celebration of Carole’s life will take place in the summer of 2025 with time and date to be announced.
