Bertha L. Richardson

BRIDGTON — Bertha L. (Sanborn) Richardson, of Bridgton, died on June 7, 2011 after a short stay at Bridgton Health Care. She was born in Baldwin on September 19, 1923 to Frank & Nellie (Brown) Sanborn and lived in Maine all her life.

She worked for Malden Mills for 25 years, retiring in 1988. She was a longtime member of the Bridgton Alliance Church, where she performed Sunday School secretary/treasurer duties for many years. She enjoyed playing the organ, reading the bible, jigsaw puzzles, crocheting and watching NASCAR racing. She was happiest when surrounded by friends and family and eagerly looked forward to their phone calls and visits.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, George W. “Steve” Richardson in 1971, all nine of her brothers and sisters, and her favorite cat, Buffy. She is survived by her daughters, Louise Valley of Coventry, Conn., and Gloria Adams and husband, Harold of Casco; her son, Brian and wife, Linda of East Hartford, Conn.; 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and her current kitty, Penny.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at 11 a.m. on September 17, 2011 at the Bridgton Alliance Church, 368 Harrison Road, Bridgton, Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Bridgton Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Attn: Capt. Garland, 3 Chase Street, Suite 1, Bridgton, ME 04009; or to the Bridgton Alliance Church.
