FRYEBURG — Bernice Eudora Smith McInnis, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019.

Born on June 26, 1927, in Stow, Maine, she was a daughter of Irving and Ina Smith and the youngest of six children. She was the wife of the late Edward McInnis for 55 years, and together they raised five children — four sons and one daughter: Allen McInnis, Frances McInnis and wife Debra, Wayne McInnis and Mary, Gary McInnis and wife Bonnie, and Elizabeth “Buttons” Greene and husband Tim. Bernice was a grandmother of 10 and a great-grandmother of 17.

She was a devoted, hardworking housewife and mother who found the time for her many handcrafts of sewing, knitting and crochet and working in her flower gardens. She enjoyed her many visits from family and friends, and time with them playing Yahtzee and Skip-Bo.

She will be remembered as a wonderful woman and the dear friend she was to many. Her love of family and amazing strength she showed right to the end. We have been blessed to have had her in our lives for so many years.

Graveside services will be held at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers a donation in her memory may be made to Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice, 15 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, ME 04240. Arrangements are under the care of Wood Funeral Home, 9 Warren Street, Fryeburg.
