Alan D. Bennett
Alan D. Bennett of Lovell, and Naples, Fla., passed away on April 11, 2024.
He was born in Errol, N.H., on Aug. 9, 1942. Alan was a graduate of Fryeburg Academy, Class of 1960, and excelled in athletics and academics. He went on to Bowdoin College, Class of 1964 with a degree in Economics.
Alan married Annette (Nettie) Kimball on March 28, 1964. They had two children, son Aaron and daughter Amber. He was self-
employed for 30 years owning an operating Bennett Transportation which provided school busing for the SAD 72 school district as well as private charters for local summer camps and ski groups among them.
The business served the community for a total of 50 years continued by his son and then his grandson. Alan proudly served as a trustee for both Fryeburg Academy and the Fryeburg Fair Association. He is a former selectman for the town of Lovell, as well as serving as a past president for Industrial Milk Haulers Association and of the Paris Farmers Union.
He had a lifelong love of sports and participated in organizing, coaching and playing on the North Fryeburg Eagles men’s softball team with Nettie in the dugout keeping score. He later developed a passion for tennis and enjoyed winning many club championships in men’s doubles and mixed doubles at his winter home in Naples.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Nettie Bennett and their daughter, Amber Dalton and her husband Darrell of Fryeburg.
Alan also leaves behind a grandson William Bennett and wife Samantha; and great-granddaughter ScarlettRose. Also granddaughter Bethany Bennett.
Alan is also survived by brothers, Keith Bennett and wife, Carmen, of Auburn, as well as Mark Bennett and wife, Cathy, of Scarborough.
He is predeceased by son Aaron Bennett.
A service and celebration of life will be held on June 2 at 2 p.m. in The Barn at Old Saco Inn located at 125 Old Saco Lane in Fryeburg. If you wish, wear blue as it was Alan’s favorite color.
