Alan C. Whitaker
FRYEBURG – Alan Craig Whitaker, 66, passed peacefully on November 23, 2024 with his family by his side, after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer.
He was born on June 2, 1958, in North Conway, N.H. to Fred and Rochelle (Lewis) Whitaker. He grew up in Fryeburg, Maine and remained there throughout his life.
He graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1977 and went on to get his degree in Culinary Arts from SMVTI. His work ethic was unparalleled, starting by delivering newspapers, running a food truck, and becoming the Director of Food Services at Fryeburg Academy and Forest & Indian Acres Camps both for 40-plus years. He was an amazing role model of hard work and commitment throughout his career.
Always a caretaker, his dedication to his family and friends was unmatched. He loved being with his family, and was the most amazing husband, father, and grandfather (affectionately called “Grumpy”) that anyone could ask for. He loved spending time with his friends and would do anything for them. He enjoyed being outdoors and could often be found working on a project, spending time at his camp on Woods Pond, or sitting back in a chair taking everything in. He truly loved life.
He is survived by his wife Julie Whitaker, his mother Rochelle Whitaker, children Kristen (Justin) Reardon and Jonathan (Kayla) Whitaker, stepson Alex (Ally) Denney, son-in-law Matt Wilson, grandchildren Chandler Wilson, Julia (Brandon) Davidson, Paige Wilson, Brynn Reardon, Teagan Denney, Declan Denney and Kane Denney, his siblings Kevin and Sheila Whitaker, nieces and nephew, and many other family members and friends that will miss him dearly.
He was predeceased by his father, Fred Whitaker, brother Shawn Whitaker and stepdaughter Heather Wilson.
