Bill McCormick Jr.

William John McCormick, Jr. (Bill), of Lovell, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, at Bridgton Hospital. He was 83 years old.

Bill was born on July 14, 1941, in Manayunk, Penn. He was a proud graduate of Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia and furthered his education in Philadelphia at Drexel University. It was there where he earned his degree in accounting, setting the stage for a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant.

Bill was a partner at Ernst & Young in New York City, where he dedicated over three decades of his professional life. His commitment to excellence in his field earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Bill and his beloved wife, Anna Marie, raised their family in Little Falls, N.J., where he actively contributed to the community by serving on the Board of Education and the Planning Board. His dedication to public service reflected his deep commitment to the well-being and development of his community.

In 1998, Bill retired from Ernst & Young, and in 2001, he and Anna Marie made the idyllic move to Center Lovell. There, he continued his commitment to community service as president of the Greater Lovell Land Trust, as treasurer of the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library expansion project, and as a member of the Lovell Planning Board. He enjoyed the beauty of nature and the tranquility of small-town life, instilling in his family his love for the state of Maine, especially Kezar Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Marie; his children, William John III and his wife Suzanne, Karen Hallberg and her husband Chris, and Michael and his wife Suzanne, as well as his eleven cherished grandchildren who affectionately called him PopPop. He is also survived by his sister Mary Ellen Grimley and her husband Gene and a host of extended family and friends.

Bill was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Lori, and his parents William and Helen.

Bill’s clever wit, generosity, and endearing smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at Lovell Cemetery #4 on Saturday, October 26, at 1 p.m. A gathering of family and friends will follow the services at the Lodge at Pleasant Point in Lovell.
