LR Player of the Week, Olivia Roy

Olivia Roy

Olivia Roy has consistently improved in her two years of Track & Field, Lake Region Track Coach Mark Snow said.

“Olivia’s dedication to practices, drills, and workouts for the throwing events has yielded better and better results. She has placed in meets and finished in the top half in numerous meets,” Coach Snow said. “Her biggest contributions are that she is reliable, thorough, and focused at practices and meets. She is an exemplar for others. We are extremely happy for her successes and look forward to having her lead our teams next season.”

In recognition of her strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Olivia is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed t-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.

Q. What do you find most challenging about the sport? Something challenging about Track & Field is that all the pressure to perform well is on one person, yourself. There is no team to back you up — all the responsibility is on yourself to do well.

Q. What goal did you set for yourself this season, and what will it take to reach that goal? To get a new personal record every meet, which will take practice and patience.

Q. What is your favorite sports memory and/or achievement (explain why)? The Western Maine Conference meet last year because I got to spend the day with my friends.

Q. How has sports made you a better person? I’m more social and learned how to be a good friend.

Q. Name a teammate or coach you admire and explain why? A teammate that I admire is Hailey Brewer because of her positive attitude and her dedication to Track even when she is injured.
