LR Player of the Week, Aidan Roberts

Aidan Roberts

Aidan Roberts had a great first season of track qualifying for States in the 1600 meters and 3200 meters, as well as being Lake Region’s top javelin thrower.

“More importantly, Aidan is a positive role model for others; he demonstrates great sportsmanship; he is selfless, dependable, and coachable,” Lake Region Track & Field Coach Mark Snow said. “We look forward to his successes to end this season and his leadership next season.”

In recognition of his strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Aidan is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed t-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.

Q. What do you find most challenging about the sport?

The hardest part about track for me is fighting through the

mental battle of a race and continuing to push through the

pain when you don’t think you can anymore.

Q. What goal did you set for yourself this season, and what will it take to reach that goal? I would like to make itto the New England’s Championship. In order to do that, Iwill have to keep working hard, and grinding to be thebest I can possibly be by the State Championship.

Q. What is your favorite sports memory and/or achievement (explain why)? My favorite sports memory

comes from just playing basketball with my Dad for fun. Ever since I was little, he has been my biggest hero, and I

will never have better memories than the ones I have built

from practicing/playing with him on the basketball court.

Q. How has sports made you a better person? It has taught me commitment and hard work. It haspushed me to my limits physically and mentally andshown me I can overcome my obstacles through hardwork. It has also strengthened my faith in Jesus, becauseHe has given me the strength and ability to overcome thedifficulties that come with sports.

Q. Name a teammate or coach you admire and explain

why? I admire Bhavnish Tucker for how hard he works day in and day out to be as good as he can be. He also shows good leadership on the track and good character in the way he carries himself.
