Gerald R. “Jerry” Ledin, 76, of Harrison, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 28, 2024, at Bridgton Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer with his longtime loving companion, Debbie Lovejoy by his side.

He was born on Jan. 7, 1948, in Stoughton, Mass., the son of Ralph G. and Lucxaine (Bernier) Ledin. He attended St. Mary’s School in Stoughton, Mass., (grades 1-8) and graduated from Stoughton High School in 1967.

Jerry began working on cars at the age of 9 with his brother Bob sharing a very special bond throughout their lives enjoying many adventures together. Jerry was considered a Jack-of-all-trades; an amazing auto mechanic and handyman; he could build and repair anything; taking great pride in his work; enjoying it all. One of his greatest joys was cruising Lake Mousam in his Checkmate; fishing, relaxing and enjoying family time spent together at the family camp.

Jerry enjoyed many weekends in the 80s and 90s camping and fishing the Lake Region area with brother-in-law Steve; one of his favorites being Kezar Lake. He fell in love with the area and after retiring as a manager at O.B. Hill Trucking of Boston, Mass., he moved to Harrison in the fall of 2006. Jerry spent countless hours of enjoyment in his garage cleaning and polishing his 1979 Chevy Corvette for which he was so proud.

Jerry will be remembered most for his kindness to wildlife and nature, his devotion and love to his family and friends, beautiful smile and deeply caring heart.

Jerry will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving companion Debbie Lovejoy of Harrison; brother Bob Ledin of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; sister Linda Webber and husband Steve Sr. of Kittery; brother Richard Ledin of Waterboro; nephew and godson Stephen Webber Jr. and wife Mary and son Sammy of Springfield, Va.; niece Stephanie Frigon and husband Jeff of Rye, N.H., several aunts, uncle, nieces nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents.
