NAPLES — In the spirit of keeping it short and to the point, new Naples Town Manager Jason Rogers attended his first selectmen’s meeting, which took 23 minutes total time.

Chairman Ted Shane announced that it was Roger’s first meeting.

“I’d like to introduce the new town manager Jason Rogers — at the end of the table,” he said.

This introduction was met with applause.

“We are pretty excited to have him here,” Chairman Shane said. “We are pretty sure he will be doing some good things for the town while he is here. He is off to good start, for the past two weeks, meeting people and personnel. Most importantly, he met with personnel. We will look to the future with Mr. Rogers.”

At the end of his first selectmen’s meeting on Monday, Rogers made comments during the Town Manager Report on the agenda.

“In the spirit of keeping it brief,” he began, taking a moment to search for his notes. He did as promised.

“First and foremost, I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome I received over the last couple weeks [while I was] checking in. I met with leadership in neighboring towns, including the county manager as well as sheriff. Just the common sense of community, history and prosperity is what the theme is. So, definitely in line with where Naples is at, and where we see ourselves going,” Town Manager Rogers said.

He has spent some time on roads — both what roadwork has been done this past summer and fall and also what road maintenance will be done this upcoming winter.

“I met with P&K this week, talking about preps for road maintenance this winter. [We] talked about plowing and sanding. We can expect sand by the end of the month in accordance with contract,” Rogers said.

He traveled around town and looked at where the roadwork has occurred.

“All the road paving is done with the exception of Middle Road. I’ve got a meeting with Pike [Industries] on Wednesday as that road is not coming along as we had planned. We are going to talk about that and exactly what is going to be the exit criteria to call that done,” he said.
