Sharon Wilson

Sharon L. Wilson, 76, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Harrison, and Beverly, Mass., passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Avow Hospice in Naples, Fla.

Born in Beverly, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Charlotte and Matthew Buchanan. She was the beloved wife of Kenber Wilson.

Sharon graduated from Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School in 1965 and went on to
pursue an Associate's Degree at Salem State College in Salem, Mass. After graduation, she
worked for three years at Solid State Products in Salem and then began her longtime commitment to employment at Varian Beverly/CPI Industries. Sharon worked her way up in the ranks at Varian with various supervisory positions and was an integral part of the company’s international shipping processes. She retired after 26 years of service and in 1996, with Ken, went to their happy place in Harrison. Sharon and Ken built their dream home on Long Lake and made many friends there. Sharon went on to work at the Town Office in Harrison, in 1998. She worked as a town clerk and on many special projects and involved herself with the annual Christmas in Harrison town-wide celebration, along with shopping, wrapping, and distributing gifts to the town’s children’s programs.

Sharon was the secretary for the Harrison Friendly Riders Snowmobile Club where she organized and attended many events. She was also a frequent volunteer for The Dempsey Challenge annual cancer fundraiser and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #9328. In 2018, Sharon and Ken moved to Naples, Fla., where they enjoyed the pool and many community festivities, making more friends along the way. Sharon enjoyed gardening, puzzling, and was a very social person, who made many friends over her lifetime. One of her passions was organizing and she was often referred to as the “Queen of Organization.” She always went the extra mile to make the people she encountered feel welcome and she was extremely generous with her heart and time. She will be missed by all.

In addition to her husband, Ken, she is survived by her brothers Matt Buchanan and his wife, Rose, of Keene, N.H.; David Buchanan and his wife, Linda, of Beverly, Mass.; sister- in-law Maria Buchanan of Naples, Maine; her step-children, who she loved and cared for as her own, Scott Wilson and his wife, Marlene, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Frye Island; Barbara Wilson and Lisa Moore of Naples, Fla., and Naples, Maine; and Jeffrey Wilson of Stow. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as countless friends.

She is predeceased by her brother Bill Buchanan.

Funeral services for Sharon will be private.
