Barry C. Drew

Barry Drew

Barry Colin Drew of Buckfield passed away suddenly last week, just a few days after celebrating his 64th birthday.

He was born in Hyannis, Mass., and moved to Harrison with his family as a young boy. He loved Maine and considered it his home. He was an admirer of the beauty of his surroundings.

Barry had many different skills including masonry, logging, and carpentry. He loved fishing and hunting with his friends and family. Barry participated in the Ice Fishing Derby on Kezar Lake for many years and demonstrated his fishing skills as the proud winner in 2021. He also enjoyed cooking and sharing recipes. Barry knew all the best places to get homemade food and fresh fruits and vegetables. He loved hanging around his friend’s autobody shop with the guys, documentaries and all kinds of music. Barry was known for his gentle manner. He was a lifelong Democrat and quietly held to his deep beliefs. Not many knew that he was also a brilliant writer. When prompted, he could tell a great story or a joke. Barry will be missed forever by so many who loved him dearly.

Barry is survived by his son, Justin Stanton, of Harrison; his brothers, Robert Drew and his wife, of Lovell, and Daniel Drew of Sweden; his sisters, Donna Andrews of Waterford, and Bonnie Perry of Cotuit, Mass.; as well as two granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Terri Drew; and his parents Robert and Anne Drew.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the North Lovell Cemetery, Route 5, Lovell.
