Care Team, State Police detective to host community awareness talk
The Molly Ockett School’s Care Team of Fryeburg will be hosting a community awareness event featuring Detective Royle from the Maine State Police Special Investigations and Computer Crimes Unit. This important event is Tuesday, Dec. 6 and begins at 6 p.m. at the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center at Fryeburg Academy, Bradley Street, Fryeburg.
The presentation is geared toward parents with children that have phones or access to the Internet and is open to the public (not just SAD 72).
Detective Royle will discuss current issues regarding smartphones, cyberbullying, sexting and sextortion, gaming, online enticement, live streaming, peer-to-peer and social media. Also, the current trends these issues present to children, how parents can identify them, some handy tips ‘n’ tricks and how parents can approach these issues with their children to protect them online.
