Charlene G. Doucette
Charlene G. “Peewee” Doucette of North Bridgton, and Titusville, Fla., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, July 21, 2022.
Born in Worcester, Mass., on January 23, 1936, she was the eldest daughter of Charles and Martha Gravelin. She grew up in Sutton, Mass., with her two sisters,
Nancy and Marcia. A few years after graduating high school, during one of her frequent visits to see her cousin in Newport, R.I., she met her husband, Gerry. They
married in May of 1957 and lived in Massachusetts and Rhode Island before settling in Maine to raise their family.
For years, Peewee worked alongside her husband as the owners and operators of Lakeside Pines Campground in North Bridgton, where she kept the business meticulously organized. She welcomed generations of happy campers and had a knack for remembering the names of each family. Even many years later, Peewee could recall exactly what their names were, where they were from, and what site they camped on. She enjoyed her winters in Florida but always ensured she was back at camp for the start of the season. She loved reading, observing the wildlife in the campground, the weather, and its changes, and her 3 o’clock cup of coffee. Every Sunday, she would comb through the “funnies” and would set aside the pages for her beloved grandchildren to enjoy.
Peewee leaves behind her children, Gregory Doucette and his wife Maureen of Maynard, Mass., Bethanne Baker and her husband Matthew of Harrison, Todd Doucette of Titus- ville, Fla., Mark Doucette and his wife Dorothy of Harrison, Scott Doucette of North Bridgton and daughter-in-law Brenda Doucette of North Bridgton. In addition to her children, she is survived by her grandchildren Jordan, Steven, Michael, Andrew, Cody, Dillon, Kolt, Kasandra, Matthew and Emily; great-grandchildren Sophia, Madelyn, Connor, Quinn, Ryan, Logan and Scarlette; a sister, Nancy Brigham of Sutton, Mass.; a close cousin, Bernice “Bunny” Oxley of Newport, R.I., and in-laws and many nieces and nephews along with dear friends both in Maine and her winter home in Florida.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald M. “Gerry” Doucette Jr., her son John E. Doucette and her sister Marcia Rosebrooks.
