Frank Morrison

As Frank’s apple trees blossomed and fruit began to grow, he died at Gosnell Hospice House on Saturday, July 16, 2022. 

He was born Francis Frederick on April 26, 1938, in Portland. Parents were John L. Morrison and Jeanette Chasse Morrison. He graduated from Rockland High School in 1956 and from the University of Maine, Orono, in 1961. He then enlisted in the Coast Guard, attended Officer Candidate School, and spent most of his service as Public Information Officer at the Coast Guard Academy, New London, Conn. In 1965, he retired and continued in public relations at out-of-state colleges until 1971 when the family moved to Cumberland Center. He did public relations work for non-profits and in retirement worked at a hardware store. 

Frank and Martha Robinson were married in 1964, have children Andrew and Elizabeth Morrison. In 2008, Frank and Martha moved to Raymond, next to the orchard he and family had planted in 1976.

Singing and arranging music shows kept him happy. Choir at the Cumberland Congregational Church and Freeport Chorus and Lake Region Community Chorus were long time memberships. He also enjoyed producing music shows and participating in Hank Beebe’s musicals. He was an original member of the Maine Steiner acapella group at UMO. 

Survivors include wife, Martha; daughter Elizabeth; son Andrew; a granddaughter; and a brother, Richard Morrison.

A remembrance will be held in the fall at the Cumberland Congregational Church. Cremation arrangements are in the care of the Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Road in Casco. Condolences and tributes may be shared with Frank’s family at www.hallfuneralhome.net.
