Paul Bubier
Paul Bubier, 79, of Ocala, Fla. and Casco, passed away due to complications following hospitalization for injuries suffered in a fall.
Paul was born in Portland on Oct. 16, 1942. He grew up in Raymond and Freeport. His first job was setting pins at the bowling alley in Freeport. Paul graduated from Freeport High School in 1960. Soon after, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was trained as a Radio Repairman at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Miss. His final assignment was at Ellsworth AFB near Rapid City, S.D. He was assigned to Operation Looking Glass as a Radio Repairman. That operation put a plane (EC-135) in the sky that was integrated with the nuclear command on the ground. This would ensure that even if the entire U.S. command was destroyed in a nuclear attack, the airborne crew would be able to coordinate a retaliatory strike.
Following his four years of service, he returned to Maine and went to work at Water Systems as a Journeyman Plumber. There, he earned his Master Plumbing license and started his own business serving the Raymond and Casco area for many years.
After retiring, Paul continued to open and close summer residents for those that had come to rely on him. Paul eventually moved to Ocala, Fla., with his companion of 20 years, Christy Moore, while continuing to summer at their home in Casco. Paul enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing, and the many vacation trips shared with Christy. Paul was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 155 in Naples.
Paul was predeceased by his brother, Peter Bubier; and his sister, Phyllis Woods.
Paul is survived by his longtime companion, Christy Moore; his sister, Deborah Herrick; stepson Christopher Federico and stepdaughter Darcia Thorpe; as well as six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nephews and a niece.
In the summer, interment will be at Murch Cemetery in Casco, and a celebration of life will be held at American Legion in Naples.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to: American Legion Post 155, PO Box 164, Naples, ME 04055.
