Kathryn Rose of Naples has been selected as the area Lions Clubs’ “Student of the Month” for April.

Each month, area Lions Clubs recognize a Lake Region High School senior who has excelled academically. The recipient is presented a monetary award.

Future Plans: It is my hope to continue to further my education throughout college, and eventually study and conduct sociological research abroad.

What is your favorite class? Sociology courses have been some of my favorite classes over the past few years because they force me to challenge my perspective and beliefs about the world around me.

What is your toughest class? I would say my toughest class was definitely microeconomics since it involved so many steps that required a lot of focus not to make any simple calculation errors.

How do you balance your class work and your extracurricular activities? I make sure I give myself plenty of time to dedicate to things non-school related, that way when I study I am not feeling burnt out.

What is the biggest challenge high school students face today? I feel that a major obstacle both students and teachers are facing today is the transition to full-time school after adapting to a primarily isolated environment over the past two years.

Who has inspired you educationally? I would have to say my sophomore and junior year English teacher Mrs. Fournier. She helped me see past my initial disdain for writing and helped me find passion in my subject choices.
