Dr. Elliot D. Turnbull
PORTLAND — Dr. Elliot D. Turnbull, 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Residence, where he lived for the last four years under the excellent care of their wonderful staff.
Elliot was born in Clinton, Mass. He graduated from Clark University in Worcester and Tufts Medical School in Boston with a degree in Medicine. He practiced briefly in Portland before moving to Naples and then to Norway.
Elliot had a family medical practice at his office in Naples and was a doctor at Northern Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Bridgton, Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, and at hospitals in North Conway, N.H. and Poland before he retired.
In addition to being a full-time physician, Elliot was very industrious throughout his life. He ran a farm and bed and breakfast at the Elm House on the Songo Locks Road in Naples in the 1960s, and then built and ran Brandy Pond Park on Route 302 in Naples.
Elliot retired to Florida, where he enjoyed fishing and raising orchids, and loved to host family lobster bakes on his returns to Maine.
Elliot is predeceased by his mother Violet; father Arthur; brother Walter; second wife Anne; and third wife Lin.
He is survived by his first wife, Dors Bahl of Appleton, Minn.; son Robert of Appleton, Minn.; son David of Portland; son William of Virginia Beach, Va.; daughter Elizabeth of Machias; as well as many stepchildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
