NAPLES — One of the full-time employees with the Naples Fire and Rescue Department (NFRD) announced his resignation this month.
Naples EMS Coordinator Lucien Gendron tendered his letter of resignation on Dec. 7, giving a one-month notice. His last day will be Jan. 7, 2022.
“Over the next 30 days, I will make sure that the transition of the office goes as smooth as possible,” Gendron wrote.
Also, in his letter of resignation, he thanked Naples Town Manager John Hawley for his “guidance during my tenure as the EMS coordinator.”
Gendron has been with the NFRD since 2008. He stepped into the position of EMS coordinator in July 2018, according to Hawley.
Gendron took a job with the Town of Poland’s Fire and Rescue Department. Meanwhile, he will continue in the capacity of a per diem worker with the Town of Naples.
“Even though I am resigning as EMS coordinator, I will be staying on the department as a per diem firefighter/paramedic,” Gendron said in an email on Tuesday.
On Monday, the Naples board of Selectmen accepted the resignation. At that time, the personnel change was made public.
“He has taken a full-time job with another department,” Hawley said.
“Between an interim and the fire chief, the EMS duties will be shared,” he said.
Naples Fire Chief Justin Cox said that Mike Linteu will act as interim EMS coordinator.
“This is temporary,” Chairman Jim Grattelo said. “During the budget process, we are going to propose new a new structure” for the fire and rescue department.
