Since its founding in 1808, Bridgton Academy has had a distinguished history of service to the United States Military. Bridgton graduates have been in combat during The Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Some of Wolverines have graduated from West Point, Annapolis, the Air Force Academy and the Coast Guard Academy. Many BA graduates have made a career in the military and have risen to the rank of Admiral, Colonel, Captain, and Major among others. Lest we forget, numerous Bridgton alumni have ultimately given their lives in service to the military. 

This fall, Bridgton Academy plans to dedicate a new addition to campus — the Bridgton Academy Veterans Memorial, which will be located on upper campus adjacent to the athletic fields. This beautiful memorial area will include a stonewall with seals representing branches of the United States Military, as well as inscribed commemorative bricks that provide the opportunity to honor those who have served our country.

BA invites the public to consider making a gift in support of this meaningful and historic project. Gifts of any amount are welcome, and for those who would like to provide a lasting tribute at Bridgton Academy to a veteran, whether a Bridgton Academy alumnus or someone special to you, BA is offering the opportunity to purchase the commemorative bricks that will be installed in the Veterans Memorial. The bricks are available in three sizes (4”x8” at $250, 12”x12” at $1,000, limited quantities available, and 18”x18” at $5,000, limited quantities available) and include your personalized inscription.

If you would like your commemorative Veterans brick installed prior to our dedication at Homecoming Weekend in October (1-3), 2021, donations must be received no later than Aug. 6. Donations received after that time are still eligible to purchase a brick; however, installation before Homecoming is not guaranteed.
