Bridgton moves ‘Fourth’ fireworks display to Labor Day weekend
Scratch fireworks on July 3 in Bridgton.
The annual Fourth of July aerial show has been moved to Labor Day weekend.
Bridgton Recreation Director Gary Colello released the following statement today:
“For many years, the Town of Bridgton has provided the community with a spectacular firework display to celebrate our country every July 3. Local nonprofits, area businesses, and youth groups all come together to sell various food and items to help raise money for their respective organizations. Hundreds of people line up all over the lawn and take in the warm summer evening with the Town Band playing classic tunes.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of Bridgton Recreation Department is regretfully postponing the Town of Bridgton Independence Day firework celebration scheduled at Stevens Brook Elementary School for dusk on July 3.
We realize the importance of this event for our community and local business however the ability to have large group social gatherings in July outlined in Governor Mills ‘Restarting Maine’s Economy’ is still prohibited.
Our goal is to plan for a Labor Day weekend firework display with the same great show you come to expect. Details of the event will be provided early this summer.
Please note organizations that wish to have a place during the Labor Day event, as well as any future Town of Bridgton Independence Day firework celebration festivities beyond 2020, to sell food, drinks, toys, etc. must be signed up and registered with the Town of Bridgton Recreation Department before the event weekend.
Be safe and stay active!”
