Player of the Week: Alli Vogel

Alli Vogel

Alli Vogel continues to be a leader for both the Lake Region girls’ and boys’ alpine ski team.

“She has perfect participation and gives 110% at all times,” Laker Coach Scott Davis said. “She skis strong and solid and as a result never fails to finish and scores valuable points for the team.”

Assistant Coach Scott Cushing added, “Alli has demonstrated consistent results, as well as strong leadership characteristics. Alli supports her team members on and off the ski hill. In regards to racing, Alli has placed between first and fifth in each of the events that have been held. Along with her skiing achievements, Alli also maintains an above average grade point.”

In recognition of her strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Alli is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability, and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed T-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.

Q. Why did you choose to race alpine? I already was skiing a lot and it seemed like a new, fun challenge.

Q. What is the most difficult part of racing? Staying positive even when you mess up.

Q. What do you enjoy the most about racing alpine? Being able to ski all the time and the positive team atmosphere.

Q. What do you feel you need to work on and why? I need to have a tighter line so my time and placement improves.

Q. Why is teamwork important? It’s important because we all need to support each other through tough races.

Q. What is the biggest impact your coach(es) have had on you? They gave me the confidence I needed to improve my racing.

Q. How do you want people to view you as an athlete? A good teammate and a fierce competitor.

Q. Ten years from now, when you look back on your high school sports career, what do you think you will remember most? States from each year and all the fun we have.
