Arlene Fellman

AUBURN — Arlene E. Fellman passed away on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019.

She was born in North Lovell, Maine, daughter of J. Farrington Russell and Ada Andrews Plummer. She was brought up by her grandparents, H.R. and Fannie Andrews, who moved to Bridgton when she was four years old. She graduated from Bridgton High School in 1939. She married Bruce R. Cole Sr. in 1946. They had four children together.

She started attending the First Congregational Church in Bridgton at the age of four, and continued worshipping there for many years. She was a past Sunday school teacher and active in the Friendship Class and Ladies’ Guild, knitting dozens of mittens for the annual Christmas boxes.

She was an active member of the Pondicherry Order of the Eastern Star and was a past Worthy Matron.

She worked for Dr. Frank Rogers, dentist, and then Oberg Insurance and Real Estate until her retirement.

Arlene was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed making all sorts of clothing including evening gowns for both her daughters. She was also talented at knitting and made beautiful sweaters, hats and mittens galore. Arlene was a gifted baker as well, and was especially known for her cardamon dinner rolls and glazed donuts.

Arlene married Harold Fellman in 1986. They traveled many miles cross-country by train, notably to San Francisco by way of Canadian Rockies. They enjoyed their lives together until Harold passed away in 2013. Arlene later moved to an apartment at Schooner Estates in Auburn where she lived for over three years.

She is survived by her children: son Bruce Cole Jr. and wife Susan of North Bridgton, son Gary Cole and wife Suzanne of North Monmouth, daughter Jeannine Cole of Lewiston and son-in-law Stephen Dearborn of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; her brother Ethelbert Plummer of Oxford; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Brenda Dearborn of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and her sister Athalie Boutelle of Georgia.

The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Health-care and Hospice, Elite Homecare LLC, and Androscoggin Hospice House for their compassionate and excellent care for Arlene.
