Wendy E. Smith, 64

Wendy Smith

Wendy Elizabeth Smith, 64, of Bridgton, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, at her home with her husband by her side after a 10-year battle with cancer.

She leaves behind the love of her life, her husband Gregory R. Adams; her beloved sister Karen Smith Traska; niece Lisa Smith; nephew Stephen Smith; stepson Robert Adams; stepdaughter Karen Wodika; and three children that she helped raise, Aaron, Matthew and Teresa Dalpe. She cherished their time spent together and loved them all deeply. She considered their children as her own grandchildren.

Wendy was born on July 19, 1955, and was raised in Cranford, N.J. She spent summers camping with her family at Long Lake Campground in Bridgton, and it was there that she fell in love with Maine. She eventually moved to Maine and has called it home ever since. She held many jobs in the area: Morse Orchards in Waterford, Long Lake Campsites, Pleasant, Mtn. ski area, Punkin Valley Inn, Laurel Lee, Pitt Construction, Dr. Stephen Hatch, and then finished her career at Norway Savings Bank where she worked for 23 years. She was also the Captain of the West Bridgton Fire Department for many years.

Wendy had a great appreciation for the outdoors and loved being on the water. She spoke of the many fishing trips she took with her father and the silent competition they had trying to outfish each other. She was a very talented carpenter, building a large addition to her home, an amazing musician and singer, loved working in her garden and baking for her husband.

She met her husband in 2015 on a snowmobile trip, and they were married in 2018. A love story that was long-awaited.

She was predeceased by her parents, David Smith and Elizabeth “Betty” Smith; as well as her brother Stanley Smith.

A Memorial will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m., at the Fryeburg Fair Dining Hall.
