Player of Week: Autumn Tremblay
Confidence usually brings about consistency for most athletes. Volleyball player Autumn Tremblay has both elements working for her, setting the ball and consistently delivering hits at the net.
“Autumn is one of our team’s setters, and has provided steady leadership for our team. Her confidence as a player has steadily improved over the past four years,†Lake Region varsity volleyball coach Ryan Shible said. “Autumn has improved in every area of the game: passing, setting, serving and hitting!â€
Autumn has averaged 3 to 4 aces, as well as 5 to 6 kills in each match the Lakers have played this season!
“Autumn has been one of our team’s most consistent and reliable players. She has also been a tremendous role model for her fellow teammates, both on and off the court!†Coach Shible added.
In recognition of her strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Autumn is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.†Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed T-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.

Why did you choose to play volleyball? My gym teacher told I should try it.
What is the most difficult part of the game? Keeping a good head space because volleyball is a mental game.
What do you enjoy the most about the sport? I enjoy hitting because I love the feeling of getting a “kill.†(When a player, using a swinging motion hits the ball and it touches the floor on the opponents end without touching an opponent. This can be in the form of a tip, roll or spike.)
What do you feel you need to work on and why? I need to work on everything because there is always room for improvement.
Why is teamwork important? Without it, a team can’t function. Teamwork is needed to win games and create good relationships with your teammates.
What is the biggest impact your coach(es) have had on you? To never give up and to always continue to work at the sports I play.
How do you want people to view you as an athlete? Someone who stays positive and never gives up.
Ten years from now, when you look back on your high school sports career, what do you think you will remember most? I think I will remember all the games and long bus rides we have had.
