Player of the Week: Tristen Chaine
Tristen Chaine may not be as tall as some of the league’s forwards and centers, but he certainly isn’t afraid to mix it up with the big boys.
“The biggest surprise that I have seen with Tristen this year is his rebounding ability,†Lake Region varsity boys’ basketball coach John Mayo said. “He is second in rebounding for us and he leads us in assists. Tristen has a passion for the game, and he wants to have the ball in his hands when the game is on the line.â€
During practice, the junior guard always works hard, his coach said.
“He is not afraid to go against anyone in practice, sometimes he gets knocked down, but always gets right back and goes at it again,†Coach Mayo said. “It has been exciting to watch him grow as a player and a person over the years. It is a pleasure to coach him.â€
In recognition of his strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Tristen is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.†Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed T-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.
