Player of the Week: Lauren Williams
Lauren Williams is one of the only seniors on the Lake Region cheerleading team and has “really done a great job at stepping up and keeping the other girls calm when they need it the most.â€
“She has a good attitude even when things aren’t going as smooth as we would like them to go,†Laker Coach Kaitlyn Hall said. “Lauren has come a long way since last season and I am so glad that she decided to come back and cheer with us this year! I look forward to see what the rest of the season has in store for us.â€
In recognition of her strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Lauren is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.†Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed t-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.

Why did you choose to cheer? I chose to do cheering because I wanted to try something different and it looked like a lot of fun.
What is the most difficult part of cheerleading? The most difficult part of cheering is remembering counts and trying new stunts.
What do you enjoy the most about the sport? The thing I enjoy the most about cheering is that it pushes me to get better and I love being with my teammates.
What do you feel you need to work on and why? I feel like I need to work on my jumps and listening to the music so I can have the right timing.
Why is teamwork important? Teamwork is important because we all work together and if one person isn’t there we can’t perform.
What is the biggest impact your coach(es) have had on you? Sportsmanship, make sure I have all my schoolwork done.
How do you want people to view you as an athlete? Determined, hardworking and dedicated.
Ten years from now, when you look back on your high school sports career, what do you think you will remember most? How it was fun getting involved and how I learned about teamwork and becoming a leader.
