Mary Lou Burdick, 87
NORWAY — Mary Lou Burdick, 87, of Norway, passed peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2016, in Micco, Florida.
Originally from Michigan, Mary Lou resided for many years in Waterloo, N.Y. before retiring to Harrison.
She was a longtime volunteer at the Taylor Brown Hospital gift shop and at St. Paul’s Church, where she organized the annual chicken and biscuit dinner. In Norway, she was active at the First Universalist Church.
Lou was an avid bridge player and golfer; in her passion for golfing, she won multiple club championships in Waterloo and did official handicap rating of golf courses across New England. She shared a love of jazz with her late husband Glen. She had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to travel and was always ready for any adventure. She readily accepted everyone she met as they are. She will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen Landers and partner Mark Comer, Kenneth Burdick and wife Rose, Carl Burdick and wife Kit and Daniel Burdick; also, grandchildren Troy Landers, Dustin Burdick, Elizabeth Burdick and Lucas Blaise Burdick. She was preceded in death by husband Glen Burdick; grandson Lucas Jeffrey Burdick; and late life companion Ed Auerbach.
Her remains will be used to benefit research. A memorial service will be held this summer in Norway – date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to First Universalist Church in Norway, or to Friends of the Gingerbread House in Norway (http://gingerbreadhousenorway.org).
