Maurice F. Morrissette, 72
HARRISON — Marcel (Mike) F. Morrissette, 72, passed away peacefully in his home in Harrison, surrounded by his family on Friday, April 15, 2016, after a brief battle with cancer.
Marcel was born on June 27, 1943, in Lewiston, the son of Anselme and Blanche Morrissette.
Marcel grew up in Lewiston and attended St. Peter’s Parochial School and St. Dominic’s High School, and the University of Southern Maine in Portland. During his youth, he served as an altar boy at The Basilica of Ss. Peter and Paul. He met his wife of 52 years, Jocelyne Letourneau, while in elementary school. Marcel and Jocelyne have four children, Christine, Scott, Cathryn and Todd.
Marcel began his career at Fairchild Semiconductor in 1962 as a custodian, working his way up to Aerospace and Defense Division Manager in South Portland. Marcel worked for Fairchild for close to 30 years, including serving as Managing Director for the Singapore plant from 1984-1986. From 1990-1992, Marcel served as Managing Director of Western Digital in Singapore. Marcel also worked for OPD Solutions, a consulting group, from 1995–2009.
Throughout his work and personal life, Marcel and Jocelyne traveled all over the world. They visited extensively in the Far East, parts of Europe, the United States including Alaska and Hawaii, and parts of Canada. Marcel was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, raising animals, producing maple syrup, and many other hobbies. In his retirement, Marcel was also involved in several Harrison town committees.
Marcel is survived by his loving wife Jocelyne; his children Christine of Standish, Scott of Windham, Cathryn of Standish, and Todd of Scarborough; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Fortin Group Funeral Home in Lewiston on Saturday, May 7 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Basilica of Ss. Peter and Paul (Upper Church) at 11 a.m. Arrangements are under the care of The Fortin Group Funeral Home, Cremation and Monument Services, 70 Horton Street, Lewiston, ME 784-4584.
