Keegan C. Eldridge, 25
NAPLES — Keegan Curtis Eldridge, 25, of Naples, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, with his family at his side.
He was born Sept. 13, 1990. in Norway, to Kevin and Constance Eldridge of Naples.
Keegan excelled in high school, graduating with honors from Lake Region High School in 2008. He was a member of the band and jazz band, and played in the pit bands for many musicals throughout school. He was selected to participate in the District II Band, All State Band, and the All New England Band Festival. He was also honored as the Best in Show at the Berklee Jazz Festival his junior year.
He was a 4-year, 3-season athlete participating in cross-country, basketball and track. His sophomore year he was a member of the State Championship 4 x 8 Relay Team. His freshman year he was named Rookie of the Year in Basketball. As team captain of his cross-country team, he earned several awards — 2-time Varsity Cross-Country Award, Hancock Player of the Week and Oakhurst Dairy Player of the Week.
Keegan was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for 12 years and earned his Eagle Scout in 2008.
Keegan loved to travel, and had the opportunity to visit several friends in different states and traveled with People to People to Australia and New Zealand. His senior year he went to Italy and Greece with a group of students from Lake Region High School.
Keegan worked at Sandy’s Flight Deck, Lakes Region Properties, Eldridge Construction and, most recently, the Lotus Garden in Naples.
After high school, Keegan attended the University of Farmington and the University of Southern Maine, and he was a member of several bands. He continued to amaze his family and friends with his talented drumming and entertained them with his quick wit and by playing his guitar to all types of music and any song they wanted to hear.
Keegan loved to visit the ocean and enjoyed the lake, and spent a lot of his time in the summer on the family pontoon boat and kayaking or canoeing.
Keegan was predeceased by his grandfather James L. Curtis of Westbrook.
He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Constance (Curtis) Eldridge of Naples; his sisters Kari N. Eldridge and Kiersten C. Eldridge of St. Augustine, Florida; grandparents Nancy Hanson of Naples, Philip N. Hanson Jr. of Poland, Carol Oakes of Raymond, and David and Diana Eldridge of Naples; his beloved dog Scanner; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and wonderful friends. Keegan is a courageous, selfless young man who saved lives through organ donation. He is our hero.
